Golf De Sperone

Wat een baan! Het inland stuk is lastig, het ziet er smaller uit dan het daadwerkelijk is. Eenmaal je aan de zeekant komt is het puur genieten. Hard werken, maar oh zo mooi. Balletjes over kliffen slaan, veel beter wordt het eigenlijk niet. Prijzen in clubhouse zijn stevig, maar dat is het uitzicht ook.

Great views. Back 9 are more difficult but who cares when close to the magnificent blue waters. Clubhouse staff is friendly. The driving range is surprisingly simple for such a great course. Highly recommend Sperone.

The layout is amazing. Robert Trent Jones has done designed a beautiful course. The holes near the cliffs (11,12,13 and 15,16) are amazing (like a Pebble Beach in Europe with a Caribbean-like sea) and overall the course makes great use of the natural character of the land: slopes, mediterrean maquis, rocks, some dry-stone walls, a couple of inland ponds. The course is friendly from the yellow tees, but becomes quite challenging from the white-black ones, especially if there is wind (and winds can get strong in this part of Corsica). A remark I would like to make though is about maintenance and staff. Greens were kept very slow; fairways and bunkers were kept a little untidy, as far as margins are concerned. People from the staff could have been nicer, in the spirit of the game and in line with the general lively kindness of Corse people. But overall an amazing golfing experience. Watch out: put some extra balls in your bag as bushes are thick and the sea is close...

Maquis 9 holes gespeeld. Fantastische baan met mooie vergezichten. Hole 1 is leuk omdat de green wordt beschermd door Maquis en rotsen. De par 3’s zijn kort. Deze beide par gespeeld. Nauwkeurig spel is nodig want als je de green mist dan wacht ellende. Hole 3 is een afslag met een blind shot in een ravijn en daarna weer omhoog. Moeilijke hole: op diverse holes kan gewoon de driver uit de tas. Voor het spelen heerlijk gegeten op het prachtige terras met zicht op de Ilse Lavazzi waar enige miljardairs verblijven. Vakantiehuisjes!
