The 9-hole course at Grini has improved over the last year to an extent that it warrants a new review. Basically, the course has never been in better shape, thanks to head greenkeeper Jonathan Eccles and his team. Greens are in excellent condition, but it's particularly the fairways that have improved quite dramatically. The rough is also maintained at a length and thickness that makes it much more playable than last year, making the course play much truer to how it was designed by architect Jeremy Turner. There are still some issues with water drainage after rain, and that several tee boxes aren't particularly good, but it's not too bad. Another negative is that the members largely consist of beginners, which seems to be the explanation of why slow play always is an issue. But if you're not in a rush, Grini offers a pleasant round of golf with easy access from central Oslo.

Nice 9-hole course with easy access from Oslo city centre. The layout is quite enjoyable, with some nice elevation changes. When the rough is allowed to grow long and thick, it becomes essential to stay in the fairway. The course has been in poor shape lately due to cold winters and very hot summers with little rain, but is beginning to improve. Some greens are a bit uneven, resulting in difficult reads, but are generally ok. Many risk/reward opportunities, but the risk is sometime too great when the rough is at its thickest. The long walk between 5 and 6 and the poor driving range are the main weaknesses. There also seems like a lot of player don't repair pitch marks (annoying cultural problem). The nice people and food in the café is a surprising positive.
