Playa Mujeres Golf Club

Playa Mujeres is a very nice golf course located just north of Cancun in Punta Sam which is a developing tourist area about 20 minutes drive from popular Hotel Zone towards Isla Blanca. The course was designed by Greg Norman and it is completely flat, as most courses in the area the fairways are surrounded by thick Mayan vegetation. For some reason the course plays longer than it actually is and the wind is sure affecting the game so choose your tee box wisely if you want to have fun. It is a challenging course but it is still quite forgiving off the tee so it should be enjoyable for players of all abilities.

By far my favourite hole is Par-4 8th with great fairway bunker which is just calling your name! Great approach shot awaits too. Followed by another great and not too long but technical Par-4 9th. Stretch of holes from 7th to 10th is anyways very good. One great hole after another. I could as swell say 7th to 16th hole too... 12th Par-4 is quite a tough cracker - this dogleg right with water on the right all the way to the green but there is also a lot of room on the left side so don't be too greedy and aim for the middle of the fairway. 13th is a dogleg left towards the sea and it is for sure the best Par-5 out here followed by another good Par-4 14th. 15th hole is the best Par-3 as all others are quite similar or maybe even too similar to me. Anyways - short, sweet and challenging! 16th is another beauty - short but great and well protected Par-4 with lovely sea view and nice green. No need for a driver here unless you are dead accurate. 18th is great finishing Par-4... long and frightening with water all the way to the green on the right side. However there is some room for great drives, just aim towards the left edge of white-yellow-pink clubhouse.

The course was in very good condition so no major complaints in this department.  Greens were not very fast though at least at 7am in the morning but they were sure quite tricky to read!

Interesting, modern and colourful clubhouse in typical Mexican colours. Pro shop is well stocked and the staff was friendly too.

If you are playing early in the morning make sure you have mosquito protection spray with you... trust me!

Super Platz, aber sehr lang (7200,6800,6400,6000,5800). Für Clubgolfer eine "Herausforderung".

Dazu kommt der Passatwind, erhöhte sehr schnelle Grüns.

Muss man spielen, wenn auch etwas teuer, dafür ist man aber oft allen.

Played it after quite some rain from the day before. The course was still in extremely good condition. The overall facilities are very good. A driving range with grass tees, almost new rental clubs, free bottled water in ice, GPS equipped buggies, and a very helpful staff.

The course is not that difficult – it has wide fairways and large, friendly greens, as you can expect from a resort course. However, lots of water and the jungle on both sides of the fairway keeps this course interesting.

Most beautiful hole is the par-4 16th hole. This hole is straight into the wind as you are playing directly to the ocean. The second shot into the green is one you will probably remember for quite some time.

Prachtig parcours van Greg Norman, met brede fairways (veel ruimer dan Mayakoba) en dus een lekkere baan om te driven. Bij momenten prachtige vergezichten over de Caribisiche zee. Een prachtig clubhuis dat doet denken aan de typische architectuur van Luis Barragan. Alleen onder de felle Mexicaanse zon kan je een gebouw in zo'n felle kleuren schilderen en er mee weg komen. Als je in Cancun bent, zeker de moeite en veel beter dan pakweg Pok-ta-Pok.
