I am a little bit torn about what to wright about this golf course. I will go straight to the course, since the journey to the course is more or less the same as the one described in my review of Cape Wickham.

The thing is, when I played the course for the first time, I was absolutely impressed at the beginning of my round and even taught it would be better than CW. As the round progressed and when I played it for the second time, I was not that sure anymore. It's not your average course from a layout perspective, you cannot see the pin on half the holes, it goes up and down the dunes, some holes are just ridiculous, you almost need to climb them it follows the ocean and goes so far inland that you can't even see it at the same time etc... now here's the funny part, I LOVED IT! Somehow, it works. In my opinion, it's not a course where you would go to score the lowest round of your life, it's a course where you go to have fun with your clubs, shot some bombs, try out new things, enjoy the scenery and just have fun.

The biggest down side of the course was the clubhouse and the "welcoming wagon". The clubhouse is basically a small cottage and that would be perfectly fine, except, it does not have any shower facilities. I don't get that, most people fly in from Melbourne play a round and go back, you want to be clean when you go to the plane... For me it was a big problem since I left to the airport on KI and then had a connecting international flight back to Doha. Luckily, the lady at the hotel where I stayed remembered me and I was able to use their facilities.

The second thing was the staff at the course, I arrived at 7am and there was no one there until 8am. I ended up calling them (there was a number on the door), when the lady came and explained that only 2 of us are playing on that day, I understood why. Still, if they just left instructions that we can go on the course, where some water was etc. that would be fine. But other than that excellent experience, would repeat it any time!

Was lucky enough to spend 2 days on King Island with fantastic weather.

We greeted by the professional at the Dunes who directed us to the practice ground for a warm up. The practice ground is only around 150 meters long but is sufficient to lubricate the joints. The pro shop/clubhouse is a port-a-cabin but services the needs of most golfers.

Before teeing off we were told about blind shots on certain holes and where we should aim and also given a safety briefing which involved informing us of the 3 types of deadly snakes to be found on the Golf course! Basically, if your ball goes into deep rough - don’t go looking for it!

On to the good course. It is set on the most spectacular site with many holes either running along the waters edge or has stunning views of it. Just an amazing location to have a Golf course.

There are some spectacular Golf holes but the routing is a little all over the place and we had some long walks between holes and the occasional issue finding the correct tee boxes. Some better signage would have come in handy.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable course, fantastic par 3 holes but just a few too many blind shots to be a great course.

Prachtige linksbaan met enkele schitterende holes aan de oceaan. Veel blindshots maar brede fairways. De wind is bepalende factor. Perfecte greens. De tweede negen werden recent geopend en zijn een stuk minder interessant. Greens en tees liggen ver uit elkaar en alles is nogal slordig aangeduid.

De club staat te koop en vraagt een grondige opknapbeurt.
