Played yesterday, just after maintenance, so we didn’t see the greens in their full glory. Even so they rolled well & you could tell that in normal condition they must be absolutely epic. Subtle slopes, proper movement, and the sort of surfaces that reward imagination. The course itself is excellent. A proper thinking golfer’s test, beautifully routed over dramatic coastal terrain without ever feeling forced or overdone. There’s a lovely balance between challenge and playability. Miss in the right place and you’re still alive. Miss in the wrong place and you’re going to struggle. A fair test with plenty of strategic decisions from the tee rather than endless brute carries. The bunkering & sand scrapes are a highlight. Visually strong, very much in play, asking questions on almost every hole. They frame the holes superbly and add bite. It all feels very intentional. Members we spoke to seemed genuinely thrilled with the major changes that have been made, and you can see why. The big reveal after the 2nd shot on the 5th hole & the 6th being the obvious visual highlights but generally NSW is set above the coastline, with holes that tease the ocean rather than constantly shout about it. It was stunning on a cloudy day. In bright sunshine I’m sure the views must be out of this world and I suspect the whole experience lifts another notch again. Even in muted light and post maintenance conditions, this was still a superb experience. A really strong course, hugely enjoyable, and one I’d love to see again.

What a course - unreal and indescribable! Every single hole it is getting better. #6 is absolute insane where you have to cross a bridge over the ocean to get to the teebox. But don’t forget #5 where you will be mindblow once you walk over the hill! Or what about … I can literally mention every single hole. Amazing place, atmosphere, people and a perfect day. It was windy though!

Einfach nur wow. Absolut zu empfehlen.

Wow! Wat een mooie oude dame. Het is een genot om hier een rondje te mogen lopen. Met veel plezier de vooraf toegezonden etiquette en kledingvoorschriften doorgenomen. De 'plain white socks' or 'white socks with golfclub logo's' zijn echt verplicht. Gelukkig voorziet de club dat spelers hier overheen lezen, dus het ontvangstpakketje bestaat uit witte sokken voorzien van het NSW logo.

Zelfs als je zwarte schoenen draagt zijn de witte sokken verplicht! Dus hou daar rekening mee indien je in korte broek (die ook aan voorwaarden gehouden is) wilt spelen.

Verder over de voorzieningen en clubhuis. Clubhuis is zoals je verwacht van een clubhuis uit 1928. Op punten gemoderniseerd (lockerroom en toiletten) maar ook veel authentieke aspecten behouden (hoogpolig tapijt, entree, ruimtes). Qua voorzieningen ook ruimschoots voldoende mogelijkheden: driving range ene kant en aan de andere kant driving netten. Weerszijden oefengreens, chipping area. Oefenballen zijn van Titleist.

En dan de baan in, ooh wacht, de speaker (starter) roept om welke spelers op de teebox verwacht worden. In ons geval zowel op 1 als 10 (dubbele start). Wat een baan, nergens sta je echt recht op de fairway dus ball striking is belangrijk. Strategisch geplaatste potbunkers en hole layout zorgen ervoor dat je 18 holes geconcentreerd moet zijn. De greens houden de lijn goed vast. Geniet tijdens het lopen van de schitterende vergezichten over de zee. Sommige holes zijn risk and reward, maar laat je niet verleiden. Er is genoeg ruimte om veilig de green te bereiken.

De signature hole is hole 6, maar holes 3,5,8,13 zijn m.i. net zo mooi. Blinde schoten bij afslag of in de baan. Nogmaals: wow!
