Barwon Valley Golf Club

It’s a flat course in Geelong. The course had suffered several calamities floods a couple of years ago and in the week I played serious storm which has uprooted several trees. Floods have impacted some of the fairways with a local rule to place the ball when coming to rest in such an area. The greens

are impeccable and fast. The extremely moderate green fee makes it a pleasure to play for a leisurely round.

The staff in the secretariat are super friendly and accommodating.

Short parkland course along the Barwon River with ample bird life. Although being short requires good shot making. Severe doglegs hole 1 and 2,9 - hit the bent or little chance to reach the green in 2. Long par 3 holes holes 3 and 17 intermingle with short par 4 (4,14). An enjoyable course to play for leisure. The fairways suffer of lack of rain almost no rain for months but the greens are in excellent condition. Friendly staff which gave me a temporary membership during my stay. That’s the reason I declared it my home course (temporarily).

Barwon Valley Golf Course is located not far from Geelong town (south of Melbourne). It is picturesque 18 hole public golf course, bounded by the Barwon River. The golf course can be walked it is a flat course, in case required golfcarts are available.

The golf course is well maintained with greens which are also noticed equal speed and therefore no excuse if missing the putt. Practice facilities are fine staff is promoting a friendly atmosphere for all.

The clubhouse and its facilities, including bar and snacks is nice to be used.
