Pro: -Very unique historical setting around the cool old monastery buildings. -Top class buggies with gps, ice-bucket and music speakers with Bluetooth connection. -Complementary fruit and bottles of water at the start. -Great restaurant. Great kitchen! The menu is amazing. -Good value. -Decent showers. -Nice pro-shop. -Food cart on the course. -The robot mowers do a good job cutting the fairways. -On-course water refill. -Good sand in bunkers. -Beautiful nature with old trees and many birds around the course. Con: -Modest training facilities. Small driving range . Small chipping green. -On top of your green fee you have to play for driving range balls. -Many of the tee boxes were terrible. -Some poor fairways with bare patches. -An incredible number of molehills. It looks like a real mole infestation. -In general, the maintenance could be better. It feels like the trees and bushes next to the golf holes are becoming overgrown. It feels like the holes need to be opened up a bit more. -A lot of noise from the nearby racecourse. -It seemed like some of the greenkeepers did not care much about the golfers. One just kept working his brushcutter next to us as we were hitting our next golfshot. Monastery course: -Spicy design with bumps twists and turns. -Penal course. -Compact, narrow holes. Target practice. -it feels like the maintenance on this course is less than on the Atlantic course. Atlantic course: -Demanding course. -More space than the Monastery course, but still quite narrow on some holes. -A lot of variation. Sometimes it opens up, then it is narrow again. Some short holes, some long holes. -Some great holes. Especially the iconic hole 6 with the aqueduct ruins behind the green. -Unfortunately some poor holes too (hole 13 for example). -The rough is very thick, so if you miss the narrow fairways, it is often hard to find your ball.

Mooie golfbanen. Lijkt mij lichtjes verwaarloosd.

We played this course in March of this year and thoroughly enjoyed the variety it offered throughout the round. The holes are nicely varied, which keeps the course interesting and enjoyable from start to finish. The course was in good condition during our visit, with well-maintained fairways and particularly nice greens that rolled true and looked excellent. The elevation changes across the layout add both character and challenge to the course. Because of those height differences, we would definitely recommend taking a buggy, especially if you want to fully enjoy the round without tiring yourself out too much. Overall, it’s a well-presented and enjoyable course that offers a fun mix of scenery, variety, and playability.

Atlantic North
The Atlantic North course it’s the combination of the 9-hole golf course – Monastery course – with the front-9 of the Atlantic Championship, being mandatory the buggy usage to play. This offer is the ideal option to players who want to know both golf courses and who like to appreciate beautiful landscapes of the surrounding Sintra-Cascais national park and to enjoy a stunning layout.

Atlantic Championship
The 18-hole Atlantic Championship, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, opened in 1992 and staged the Portuguese Open two years later. Every hole is different and exciting, with Jones using the contours to great effect. The course has a superb flow to it and the views throughout are magnificent, especially away to the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril and to the blue Atlantic ocean.

Monastery Course
The Monastery course, launched in 1995, also designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., is the perfect complement to its sister course. The 9-hole course is less undulated than the Atlantic Championship, offering moderated challenges which suit all levels of players. The Monastery golf course is also characterized by fast greens and narrow fairways and benefits from the stunning landscapes of the surrounding National Park.
