The course is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. According to the member accompanying us, the second hole – a 415-metre par-4 dogleg – is said to be the most difficult hole in the whole of the Madrid area. The seventh hole, a par 3, is a lovely hole. On the eighth hole, where you approach the El Escorial monastery, there are two options for playing your third shot onto the green. The tenth hole from the clubhouse, a 167-metre uphill par 3, is a challenge. The course offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills. In the hot summer, when locals set off to look for their balls in the rough and in the woods, they first use their clubs to scare away any snakes that might be in the grass. So be careful. Plan your journey from Madrid so that, ideally, you can visit the magnificent El Escorial monastery before your round. The tour takes about 2 hours.

Real Club de Golf La Herrería is one of the most enjoyable courses around Madrid. It's a technical layout that rewards accuracy and course management rather than pure distance. You'll probably play a second time much better once you've learned where (not) to miss and how the holes unfold. The course is very quiet, making for a relaxed round in a beautiful natural setting. The highlight is the spectacular view of El Escorial from the 8th hole. The 7th hole is also a fantastic short par 3. The greens are fast and undulating, adding another layer of challenge. Overall, Real Club de Golf La Herrería is a scenic and strategic course that's well worth playing, especially if you enjoy thinking your way around a golf course.

Campo de Golf a jugar sí o sí cuando en Madrid. A solo 1h del centro, vale la pena para ver lo bonito que es el campo y sus alrededores. Los 4 primeros y 4 últimos hoyos tienen árboles a ambos lados de los hoyos y requiere precisión y estrategia para poder hacer un buen resultado. Los otros hoyos son más abiertos y hay que aprovecharlos!

Jugar en un club con tanta historia, viendo el Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial en un entorno Natural Protegido inmerso en el Bosque de La Herreria y con una gran calidad de las instalaciones y una excelente calidad en la amabilidad de sus empleados. ES TODO UN LUJO

Four us played a round of golf at La Herreria yesterday. It was a terrific experience. The course layout was challenging but fair. Fairways rewarded accurate drives. Undulated fairways made shotmaking interesting. Course presentation was very good. Golf operations staff were particularly helpful. Happy to recommend.
