The course is stunning. Given the flatness of the surrounding area, the height drops of tees to fairways and fairways to greens are a surprise, but also visually impressive. Its similar to some courses in portugal in this regard. The condition given the recent lack of rain was exceptional and the layout is challenging yet fair. The wildlife on the course was attractive and varied. I liked the course so much i went back again 3 days later and was not disappointed. It was even better. Wholeheartedly recommend

Being on a short holiday in neighbouring Hossegor, I was very curious to play Seignosse, often described as one of the 50 best golf courses in Europe. I must admit I was somewhat sceptical of that claim. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I now believe it may well be true. Seignosse offers one of the finest golfing experiences in France and fully deserves its reputation among Europe’s top courses. The routing is exceptional, winding through the rolling terrain of the Landes, surrounded by magnificent pine forests. Hole after hole, you are greeted by another spectacular view, with elevated tees overlooking beautifully manicured fairways that blend perfectly into the natural landscape. Having played Fontainebleau just three weeks earlier, I would say Seignosse has one significant advantage: water. In my view, a truly great golf course should incorporate water hazards, and Seignosse does so with elegance and restraint. Add to that its narrow fairways, superbly defended undulating greens, and you have a course that rewards strategy as much as execution. The villas bordering parts of the course are discreet, elegant, and integrate harmoniously into the surroundings, never detracting from the golfing experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Seignosse. It is absolutely worth the journey and the detour, and I will certainly return.

A beautiful, woodland setting for this very challenging golf course, both in terms of golf shots required and physical effort. While the Landes county in this corner of France is known for being very flat, there are some small local hilly areas, and the Seignosse course is set up magnificently to make the most of them. On arrival, you find yourself in the car park above the clubhouse - the highest point of the surroundings. A short, steep walk down brings you to the pleasant large, open bar/restaurant building with its grand vista overlooking the practice putting green and the first & eighteenth holes, sloping down away from you. The bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. A further 30 metres and you arrive at the separate proshop and reception building. Again, it was nice to be met by friendly, smiling staff. The large number of buggies for hire, unusual in France, confirms the physical challenge awaiting you. Alas, I didn't have my electric trolley with me, something I regretted later as I toiled to push my trolley uphill. As you are near the top of a hill, the first hole is all downhill - an easy start to give your first drive a big boost in distance. The next two holes are on the flat, with water in play, though there aren't that many holes where water is present in general. Many of the holes are their own little valley, with the tee box high up a slope and the entire hole laid out below for all to see. I love courses like this where it's all out in front of you - no aiming at posts or worrying about where the fairway stops. While the course is hilly, it doesn't mean you are constantly hitting your ball uphill or downhill. There is often a steep climb up to the tee box, but once you've driven off, the remainder of the hole is flat or slightly undulating. And when I say "steep climb", I mean STEEP: my manually trolley, with both brakes on, would slide downhill from a few of the teeboxes if left facing downhill. The last hole is a bit of a curiosity - a par 6. It's a long rise from the teebox back up towards the clubhouse. Having played well over a hundred courses in France, Seignosse is firmly in my top 5, maybe even top 3. A "must-play" if in this part of France.
