About Connemara Golf Links

Galway's Only True Links....situated along the Wild Atlantic Way lies Connemara Championship Golf Links. Designed by the legendary Eddie Hackett, this is one of the most natural and true links courses in the world. The fairways and greens are beautifully carved through the rocky rugged hills and dunes. The A&B Championship Course is 7055 yards off the Blue tees and a slightly less daunting 6739 yards off the White tees. With a predominate westerly wind sweeping in off the Atlantic Ocean it is a challenge to all. Tom Watson, regarded as one of the greatest links players of all time, shot 69 here on calm summer day on July 25th 2000 and described the course as "spectacular".

I played C9 course after having played original course (A+B) before. Very rarely people play C9 and the only reason I see for it is that C9 does not have championship tees, but how many amateurs are playing those. C9 is more picturesque than the rest and the greens have less bunkers surrounding them. Otherwise C9 is well groomed and holes 1&2 run by the beach which gives you a feeling of true links. Holes 7-9 are actually incorporated within the main course, but are completely different holes. Very much recommended, especially for casual golfers. The whole complex is great, the club has all practice facilities, stately club house and great views from the restaurant.

Effe van Clifden naar de baan. Best een stuk rijden. Op een linksbaan met 23° en bijna geen wind is wel een beetje vals spelen. Liep in een flight die met een wedstrijd bezig waren. In nl ondenkbaar. Maar hier niet. Baan goed onderhouden Teeboxen ok Greens super goed.echt snel. Proshop en Caddiemaster behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Aanrader early bird voor 0900uur. Dan speel je voor 50 euro. Wel even reserveren.

One of the finest golf courses on the west coast of Ireland and one of not many true links courses. Condition of the course in early spring is great, no mats, no water damage and the greens fortunately for us were not spiked which is done quite often at other courses this time of year. The clubhouse is stately, changing rooms in great order, practise facilities in great condition. The holes are varied, some well protected by bunkers or surrounded by rough, bunkers are typical hard as in links courses, but sand is great and drying quickly after drizzle or light rain. The rough is not too penalising after winter and you can find most of the balls, but I was told that in summer rough is higher and tougher. The views surounding the course are stunning, especially in a bit of sunshine and the wind is a usual companion as it should be at links courses.

Galway's Only True Links....situated along the Wild Atlantic Way in Galway, lies Connemara Championship Golf Links. A + B are the Championship Course. The most unique aspect of this course is the landscape, designer Eddie Hackett did an amazing job of weaving the course around the scattered rocky land, add in the ocean views and you will begin to understand why Connemara is considered one of the most scenic courses in Ireland. The club has buggies, clubs and electric trolleys for hire, plus a fully stocked proshop, all one needs to do is show up! Take the time to experience something memorable by visiting Connemara Championship Golf Links.

The C 9 were designed by Michael Craddock, the first 2 holes are along a beautiful white sandy beach, with breath taking views from the 2nd tee box. Although shorter that the A or B 9, the C 9 offers much tighter fairways and well protected greens. Every shots needs to be on target and a slight miss can be very costly!!

At the Edge of Europe on the wild Atlantic coast of Galway, lies a links course that is a challenge to all who play her. Nestled between the Twelve Bens Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean in the West of Ireland, the Connemara Championship Golf Links is an exhilarating golfing experience. This awesomely picturesque 27 hole, par 72 course with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean was designed by Eddie Hackett and measures over 7,000 yards. Opened in 1973, it is a true links challenge. The back nine has been described as “the equal of any in the world”. The famous 13th hole is a very testing 200 yard Par 3, followed by the long Par 5 14th. The 15th has a green that is camped up in the hills and can only be attacked by an aerial assault. The 16th green is guarded by water and then you must confront the 17th and 18th. Again exposed to the elements, both Par 5’s are over 500 yards long. The 18th green, well guarded by bunkers, lies in the shadow of our great new Clubhouse, completed in 2007. In the year 2000 an additional nine opened. The first two holes meander along the coast with waves pounding on white sand beaches below. The 3rd and 4th curl inland along a tricky waterway, then the next five holes are a climb into rocky rolling hills with stunning mountain and ocean views.
