It is a very fine course, engaging and interesting to play, not sure why the rating is low. The course is hilly, lots of elevation changes, many blind shots, dogleg holes, one them is severe at 90 deg bend and long. All par3s are the real treat. I was told that the course stays dry even during wet weather and that was true. After two weeks of rain in November, the course was wet in places, but fully playable unlike many other courses. With a bit of sunshine, the course looks beautiful. There is a bit of sad history at Par5 9th with the restored famine cottage and information stand. The clubhouse is tidy and nice with full bar and restaurant. The only things lacking are the driving range and chipping green which would bring the club to the next level.

Great golf course. Lots of sloped fairways. Tough walk, but enjoyable.

If your looking for a fair test with plenty of rewards, Gort Golf Club is definitely up there. Designed by Ryder Christy O' Connor Junior the course is planned out nicely with some superb looking holes, but it is the par 3's which are the real stand out holes on this course. I have also yet to play this course where the greens are not rolling pure!

Facilities are basic (you all know how I like my practice facilities!) but the staff are superb. With the new motorway in situ between Limerick and Galway it makes Gort Golf Club very attractive now for those looking for a good game of golf and serious bang for you buck.
