Played after hot summer and the weather was perfect, the only problem with being a public course was a lot of golfers on the course and this did lead to long waits on the tees.

Part of a leisure club so had to adapt to those surroundings but a nice round.

As I played with a member I was given course layouts and ideas about where to go etc.

A decent golf course and good value for money if you are prepared to wait.

Birchwood is a good, solid, all-round club offering leisure as well as golf facilities. It's a busy course but, despite that, it's well maintained. The greens, in particular, are usually in great condition and they're working on improving the bunkers. Golfers have to share club house facilities with many others - there is no spike bar or similar. This means there can be quite a wait for post-match refreshment. All-in-all, though, a good course which is well worth a visit if in the area.

The fairways have obviously suffered from a long dry summer but recent rain will help to improve the condition. For me, the greens are faultless, extremely quick and true. You need to putt really well here, if you do, you’ll reap the rewards, if you don’t, they’ll break your heart.

It’s a pity the bunkers really let the course down.

A nice course, good facilities, bunkers need some attention, fairways not irrigated, so many bad bounces, hence a bit pricey at 33 pounds.

Poorly managed, sent out a singleton, with no designated tee time, between two four balls, then two ball after two ball, in buggies. Why would they not pair these players up into four balls? If you play as a four ball you are in for an afternoon of aggravation.

Lay out is OK. Needs a lot of work on fairways, bunkers are in the process of being done. For a pay and play, needs a lot of signs to get people to repair divots and pitch marks. Greens are a good test.
