Golf Club München Eichenried
About Golf Club München Eichenried
As “Home of the BMW International Open”, Golfclub München Eichenried is the only golf course in Germany which is well-known around the world. The first BMW International Open was held here shortly after the course`s inauguration in 1989. Since then, Eichenried has hosted this meanwhile only tournament of the PGA European Tour in Germany over 20 times. For many golfers it is a special challenge to play on a high-calibre PGA championship course such as Eichenried in the footsteps of stars such as Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Seve Ballesteros, Martin Kaymer, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Bernhard Langer, John Daly, Retief Goosen or Padraig Harrington. The course is always maintained to the highest level, and the course design is constantly adapted to modern requirements – with new, strategically placed bunkers, additional trees planted every year, modified water obstacles and extended tees.

Playing Golfclub München Eichenried just one day after the BMW International Open was a very special experience. With the course still set up with the Sunday pin positions and playing from the championship tees, it was as close as possible to experiencing a professional tournament setup. The only difference was that my score was definitely not quite at DP World Tour level! Golfclub München Eichenried is a classic championship layout that demands strategic thinking on every hole. At almost 6600 metres from the back tees, the course has the length to challenge professionals, but its real defence is the intelligent design, water hazards, strategically placed bunkers, and the need for accuracy from tee to green. I tried to use the lines from the Pros but didnt worked out :-) The course has hosted the BMW International Open since 1989 and has welcomed many of the world's best players. Playing it immediately after the tournament gives you a completely different appreciation of the challenge they face. The condition was outstanding. The fairways were perfect, the greens were fast and true, and everything was maintained at the highest level after a DP World Tour event. The biggest challenge was the rough, especially around the greens. It was extremely challenging and showed how important precision is at professional level. A slightly missed approach can quickly turn into a difficult recovery shot. Playing from the tips with Sunday pin positions was a fantastic test of golf. The flag locations made many approaches much more demanding, and every yard mattered. The course rewards smart decisions and punishes aggressive mistakes. It was a great reminder of how difficult professional golf really is. Watching the pros make this course look easy during the BMW International Open gives you a completely different perspective once you experience the setup yourself. The feeling of walking the same fairways just one day after the professionals competed there was incredible. The tournament atmosphere was still present, and for a few hours it really felt like being a tour player. Golfclub München Eichenried is a must-play for any golfer who wants to experience a true championship course in Germany. A fantastic layout, excellent conditioning, and a unique connection to one of Germany's biggest golf events make this course highly recommendable. Especially keep in mind that the BMW Open Course is not the Course you can play everyday, the first nine holes are the same like normal = A Course but then you are playing a mix between B and C - and as highlight there is one hole which is never used the whole year! can you imagine? crazy - they offer the whole week after the chance to play the "Old Course"

A + B Course gespielt.
