Golf in Bavaria
Bavaria is very popular as a tourist destination, mainly due to the city of Munich, the Bavarian Alps and the Allgäuer Alps. The town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, located at the foot of the Zugspitze, is one of Europe’s most popular mountain and ski resorts. When visiting Bavaria, the following highlights shouldn't be missed: the city of Munich especially during the Oktoberfest, Neuschwanstein Castle, the medieval town of Bamberg, the old town of Regensburg situated on the Danube River and the many Bavarian natural parks.
If you are planning a golf break to Bavaria, then the following Bavarian golf clubs shouldn't be missed: Wittelsbacher Golfclub, Achental Golf, St. Eurach Land- und Golfclub, Golf Club Würzburg e.V. and Golf Valley München. Golfclub Reit im Winkl deserves a special mention as it has an Austrian address but is member of the German Golf Federation. Golf Club Bad Kissingen, founded in 1910, is the oldest golf course in Bavaria.
Bavaria is also home to Quellness & Golf Resort, which is Europe's largest golf resort with wellness and thermal baths. The resort has 5 courses and a short course. Another great resort to stay in is Das Achental, home of Achental Golf. You can find many high ranked clubs near Starnberg - just south of Munich and near Bad Griesbach which is where the Quellness & Golf Resort is located.
So, all in all, Bavaria is a great golf destination with many good golf courses, nice medieval cities and a lot of natural beauty especially if you like hiking.
