At 30 minutes from Lisbon, the Montado Hotel & Golf Resort is located in the “Costa Azul” region, in Algeruz (Palmela), near the Castle of Palmela. The MontadoResort is surrounded by vineyards used to produce the famous wines of the region. Evolving from an oak tree hill (Montado), where water streams and ponds make the magic and beauty of the resort, the golf course is carefully inserted in a rural landscape that is ideal to get out of your daily routine. The Montado’s Golf is also known for its’ 18th hole, where the green is located on an island. This resort is unique in the Palmela region, with an 18 holes Golf Course, an Hotel and Spa, making it perfect for anyone, especially golf players. A unique place for the ones looking to relax, or enjoy some family time, whether by taking a walk on the beaches of Troia, visiting the Castle of Palmela, the José Maria da Fonseca cellar or the Estuário do Sado Natural Park. Also, take your time to appreciate the great gastronomy of the region, as for example, the famous Tortas de Azeitão, the “Moscatel de Setúbal” and its’ fabulous cheeses. First time I have played Montado and it was a very pleasant surprise. The course was in great maintenace conditions, with some of the best greens ever played lately. I have been in Montado on the 21st sep 2021. Let's start from the course design: this is great, and i think is the major feature of the course. Some holes with long and wide fairways for tee high and let the driver fly are combined with tight holes where accurancy is a must. Greens i found in great conditions. Great venue to stay and play. Course is in top condition and you can score well if you play it wise. Greens are good and have a good ball roll. Fairways are wide enough but be aware of the traps. Some couple of holes are fantastic, for me 14th is my favourite. Great 18th hole to finish in an island like green with views over the hotel/clubhouse.
