Troia Golf

Not really a review, but a warning. Robert Trent Jones' Troia is no more. Much to my surprise I just discovered the course is gone - completely bulldozed over. No single blade is left. Clearly they're building a new course on the site of the old one. With the competition of Dunas, Torre, Pinheirinho and perhaps CostaTerra for those fortunate enough to have access, it became clear that the old Troia needed an upgrade. Very curious to see the result. When is it going to re-open?

Great course, Great layout , Shorter / Narrow golf course. Target golf.

Comparing Troia to its stunning neighbors, Dunas and Torre, is like comparing a charming vintage car to a Ferrari — almost impossible. Troia is a classic resort course lined with pine trees and villas, featuring narrow fairways but an overall enjoyable and very playable layout. The two seaside par 3s are true eye-catchers. It’s an easy course to walk, with greens in perfect condition and fairways hard and dry — perfectly normal for this time of year. A great complement to the two big names nearby, and conveniently close to the resort town of Troia.

Ce pourrait être un parcours top… mais malheureusement les fairway sont extrêmement mal conservés. Le driving range est affreux avec des tapis en piteux etat. En revanche, les green sont top et le personnel fait de son mieux pour compenser le manque de moyens flagrant

The course looks awesome in its surroundings, feels perfectly right in the landscape. Looks like Pinehurst of Europe. Fairways and greens are sometimes very small/tiny. Next to the fairways you usually find sandy areas that are punishing. You better like sand if you come here. Most greens are well protected. You'll have to be accurate on this challenging course.
