Golf Club Montreux

Parcours plat, mais très intéressant sur le plan stratégique avec de somptueuses vues sur les montagnes. Oui , il y’a la proximité de la route mais la qualité de l’entretien est parfaite, rough et fairways nickels, et les greens sont splendides avec une excellente route ! Félicitations !

Een echte parkbaan met prachtig zicht op de bergen rondom. Vooral naar dente du midi toespelen is erg mooi. De greens zijn erg mooi. De baan is niet heel uitdagend.

The Golf Club Montreux is probably one of the oldest golf courses in Switzerland as it was founded all the way back in 1900. This flat parkland layout is surrounded by beautiful old trees which will come into play as soon as your shots start wandering a bit off the line. Therefore the course can be quite a challenge and if you want to go low it will require good course management and precise shots.

There are quite a few very good Par-4's out here. My favorite holes are short dogleg-left Par-4 3rd hole, followed by nice and short Par-3 over a small pond. The 5th is another nice tree lined Par-4 with well protected green. I also liked the dogleg-left Par-4 10th hole. 13th is good but long and challenging Par-4. The 17th hole is the best Par-5 where a good and well positioned drive will give you a chance to go for the green in two. 18th will make sure you stay focused till the very last shot. This Par-4 is quite a challenge off the tee as it looks very narrow though the hole opens up and there is quite a lot for your drive. If you manage to crack one down the middle you will still need a very good approach shot to this narrow green which is protected with water on the left side.

The course was unfortunately not in the best condition. Fairways were okay but the greens were quite bad, partly damaged and slow and the condition of the course was not worth the price tag. I can understand the drought challenges many courses experienced this season but this poor greens condition had nothing to do with the lack of water.
