Golf in Italy

Although golf in Italy is still an elite sport, this is rapidly starting to change. Golf in Italy is a family activity, so the facilities at the golf clubs are generally good, also for children. Some golf clubs in Italy are still 'member only', but nowadays quite a lot of golf courses in Italy are opening up their course to tourists and are actively trying to attract foreign golfers.

Golf in Italy
In total, there are 260 golf clubs in Italy. Some of the best golf courses in Italy are Circolo Golf Villa d'Este, Golf & Country Valcurone and Circolo Golf Bogogno. Because of the diverse nature in Italy, golf courses there can have very different styles and views. Are you the golfer who is always looking for a bit more luxury than your standard golf course? Italy boasts some terrific golf resorts like Toscana Resort Castelfalfi and Argentario Golf Resort & Spa. These are the best golf resorts in Italy and they will definitely make your Italy golf break even more special. With the arrival of the Ryder Cup in 2022 at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Italy has started to actively promote golf tourism in order to become a real golf destination. Marco Simone is located in the Roman countryside and offers 27 holes. It is been recognised as one of the best golf courses in Italy and has also been host to the Italian Open for a few times. Golf in Italy has a long tradition. The Italian golf federation was founded in 1927. Italy has many golf courses - currently there are 256 - but most of them are concentrated in the North. The climate and Italian cuisine complement the unique golfing experience. The best season to golf in Italy is from May to October. July is the month with the least rain, but also with the highest temperatures. And, during the summer it can be quite busy with other tourists! Our advice would be to golf in Italy in spring or fall. So, what can we say about a golf break to Italy? Well, make sure you combine golf with other activities. Italy is famous for its cultural cities and traditions. You can combine this perfectly with Italy golf courses. Just choose a nice region, for example Tuscany, Corse or Sicily, book your tee-times and enjoy your golf holiday to Italy!

Golfclub St. Vigil Seis

Castelgandolfo Golf Club
CastelGandolfo is located in an old volcano crater what gives its beautiful views when you tee-off at 1 or 10 its a big circle of green where the 18 holes are carefully designed. The designer was Robert Trent Jones Sr. and there are some very interesting holes. Unfortunately when we were there the rough was way to high and in fact my biggest remark is the maintenance. W…

Olgiata Golf Club
Olgiata will be hosting the Italian Open in October 2019 and after the renovation 6 years ago (by Jim Fazio) it is ready! The length of this course from the black tees is amazing with it's length of 6918 meters it would be the 3rd longest course on the European Tour compared to the courses last year and the only one with a par 71. The Clubhouse is not the newest but ver…
