Lambourne Golf Club

My Dad was a member here on and off for a few years. It was a nice alternative to have to Burnham Beeches.

When my brother and I left Burnham Beeches, in amongst university, this is where we took up membership. Membership was short lived and after 2 years, I can’t say that I miss it.

The conditioning is commendable as the course can get very wet in the winter. However, many of the holes are relatively ordinary. A parkland course, set in 180 acres of tranquil parkland lines with oak and beech trees and six lakes, Lambourne is still a challenge.

I have been told by my brother that the green’s can get quite pacey, especially when host to the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire (BB&O) Amateur Championship. The course can play long, stretching 6,798 yards from the tips with a SSS 73.

One of the more commendable elements of the clubs is the practice facilities where members and visitors receive complimentary access to four extensive practice areas. A driving range, two short game areas and a putting green.

The clubhouse building itself is magnificent and sits at the terminus of both nines. Inside the building is pleasant enough but doesn’t quite mirror the grandeur of the architecture.
