It rewards good, imaginative golf but is not tricksy or misleading. The par 3s are every bit as good as their…
Swinley is a joy to play and after arriving through its low-key entrance and making your way to the clubhouse you step out onto the terrace for amazing vista down the 1st and 18th. Carved out of a Royal hunting forest and open heathland, Swinley’s layout remains true to its original Harry Colt design but with subtle enhancements over the years. Today, off the back tees, at 6431 yards long it delivers a true test of the game, but the course is set up to deliver a great experience to golfers of all standards. It is said that that Swinley Forest packs more interesting shots and possesses more memorable holes than any 7,000-yard course built since the last War. No wonder Colt himself would talk about 'craving for my usual game around Swinley Forest Course' after he moved away to Oxfordshire.
