About Newquay Golf Club

Sitting on the Cornish Coast, alongside Fistral Beach and in the heart of Newquay town. Since 1890 it has been a Cornish golfing gem. A challenging, but fair, links golf layout guarded by pot bunkers and marram grass. When the wind is up, it’s a force to be reckoned with but always a nice view!

Pro: -Very pure old (1890) OG links course with parched fairway grass in the summer. -Fairways with huge bumps and undulations. -Nice greens. -Amazing pot bunkers. -Incredible views on the ocean from every hole. -Great views on Fistral beach with its many surfers. -Lovely fully stocked pro shop. -friendly reception at the pro shop. -Good value on the greenfee. -Very playable for any level. -Well-maintained. -I don’t think you will loose many balls. -I love the design of the clubhouse. It looks a bit like a white castle. -Excellent communication via email to the greenfee players. Con: -No driving range. They have 3 golf cages for warm-up. -Very limited practice facilities. Just a small putting green by the clubhouse. -You have to play across a footpath 6 times on the 18 holes. When it’s busy on the beach, there’s a constant flow of people walking on the footpath. I understand it’s part of history, but it is still annoying.

Newquay Golf Club is a coastal parkland course in Cornwall, designed by Harry Colt and set beside the famous Fistral Bay. It offers a varied and enjoyable layout with excellent sea views and clever routing across undulating land. Although the course appears tightly packed from above, the elevation changes give each hole a sense of space and separation. A public footpath crosses several holes, but it is set within a trench with protective fencing, which minimises its impact on play. The greens were undergoing maintenance at the time of this visit, but overall, the course's conditioning was great, and it played well. The standout feature is the setting. Views across the bay and surrounding headlands are outstanding, particularly from the clubhouse, which offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Newquay is a memorable course in a dramatic location. A worthwhile stop for anyone visiting or travelling through the area.

The beach at Newquay has as a hub for surfers. Newquay GC is surrounded on three sides by houses and the beach on one side. From the sloping terrain to the sea, almost all

holes can be seen from everywhere. They slope down the around the perimeter and from the 12th to the inner spiral. Six holes are intersected by a path to the beach, partially sunken underground and covered by a wire mesh.

Beautiful location overlooking Fistral Beach, the main surf beach in Newquay. Beautiful views from all over the course, particularly on holes 2-5. Whilst not a top notch layout, it’s a true links. With the slopes and bunkers the holes are certainly challenging enough and it’s a lovely course to play given its location. Condition of the course was good, particularly the greens. It is equally playable for both low and high handicaps. I can recommend playing it.

newquay è un campo stile fai da te. non grande layout, molti bunker e out, anche perchè lo stesso è stato costruito attorno al paese. molte buche che si incrociano ma piacevole e divertente prezzo qualita ottimo.
