High Throston Golf Club

Played here twice now, recently when a lot of other courses are closed due to the severe wet weather we have had. Was really pleased at how this course has handled all the water. It is built along a hill so a lot of holes drain well.

Signage to the next hole could be better, and while the back tees do have a picture of hole layout it would be good to see something similar for the yellows which most of us play off. There are a few holes where you are playing blind, you cannot see the bunkers, but generally on the hole there are plenty of marker sticks to guide where the shot needs to go.

Decent value for money at £25 a round £20 for 9 is a bit steep. Mobile phone was answered out of hours and our booking time logged which is good service. Will definitely go back in the summer where i would guess the greens will be rapid, they were quick even when soft and wet.

Memberships are available I beleive and would recommend although I dont know if its then totally free to play or recduced fees.

Be prepared for the hike up the hill to the 11th tee, this is a good course layout and not just going back and forth like some.

Good local course - first time I played here was during lockdown - course was quiet and social distancing was adhered too - fantastic course in a great location just off the A19.
