Hythe Imperial Golf Club

Deze 9 holes golfbaan ligt dicht bij Folkestone en The Shuttle ( kanaaltrein ). De 9 holes baan heeft 18 verschillende teeboxen en 12 verschillende greens, dus bij het spelen van je 2de ronde is er voldoende afwisseling. De 9 holes bestaan uit 4 Par 4 - 3 x Par 3 en 2 x Par 5. De zeer goed onderhouden baan heeft voldoende afwisseling en uitdaging. De afslag van holes 5 en hole 9 bevinden zich bovenaan de dijk / autoweg en geven je een mooi uitzicht op de baai en keienstrand. Wegens start in de namiddag heb ik twilight tarief betaald van 9£. Dit is veruit de laagste greenfee die ik ooit betaald heb ( mijn koffie + cake in Starbucks Folkestone kost meer ) en dit was absoluut de moeite waard.

If you are staying in Hythe, make sure to check out this club. I have played 9 holes as the 18 holes are quite the same. Because of that there are a few conflict zones. The fairways are quite ok and greenkeepers tend to the Greens but the quality is not on all Greens possible. The Club House is Basic but Hospitable and friendly. There is no driving range, instead a netted box. Bonus is that you are playing between the Military Canal and the channel.

Hythe Golf Club, a Par 69,14 greens with 18 tees right next to the ocean. This flat open seaside course only measures 5300 yards from the back tee, ladies 4800. With small raised greens you need a great short game. The course was a bit wet but the greens were great. A fun golf course next to an impressive hotel. Maybe not everybody's cup of tea but still beats working!

A very friendly welcome could be the high point of a round here. It looks as if a housing development has squeezed the course into some difficult layout choices. It’s quite hard to navigate and the feel is very tight hole to hole. Nice setting by the sea though. Although I won’t be rushing back the members seem to love the place so fair play to them.
