About Borth and Ynyslas Golf Club

Golf as it should be played. Arguably the oldest in Wales, this traditional championship links course offers a great test of golf for all standards of player. Add to this superb clubhouse with bar and restaurant, a well stocked Pro's shop and practice facilities, Borth and Ynyslas provides a great venue for serious competitors and holiday golfers alike. Running alonside Cardigan Bay and bordered by nature reserves, the Dovey Estuary and Snowdonia beyond, the superb setting may distract your mind from the odd errant shot, but the easy walking will enable the least agile of us to enjoy a round or two, and the opportunity to master this grand old lady of Welsh golf. One thing is for certain, a warm welcome will await all those who visit, and a desire to return to recover that dropped shot.

When you are in Aberdovey, one of the top Welsh courses, be sure to visit here as well. Both courses are visible to each other across the bay, but it takes about 25 minutes to drive between them. B&Y is a classic, raw links course. It competes with Tenby for the title of the oldest course in Wales. The entire course is flat. It is crossed by a coastal road, which you cross. Parts of both nines take you right up to the beach.

As it’s meant to be for a links course.

Totally caught by nature.

People very kind and friendly.

Played on a sunny day and 7 BFT from East to West, a bit of a challenge?.

Thanks so much for playing.

Fun! Left side the ocean right side the street with traffic. Walking people on the path. Caravans on the side! Sometimes difficult to find the next tee or green. Great adventure! I’m looking forward to play again!

Set in a spectacular location on the sweep of Cardigan Bay, Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club was established in 1885 and has a strong claim to be the oldest course in Wales. This traditional links course which was redesigned by Harry S Colt in 1945 provides a great test of golf all year round as one would expect of a Golf Union of Wales championship venue. The golf course is maintained to a very high standard for members, visitors and societies. A round of golf at Borth & Ynyslas is a truly memorable experience and many visitors consider the course unique among the other fine links courses in Wales. A significant part of the course is within the Dyfi National Nature Reserve. The course is carefully managed in discussion with environment agencies providing golfers with the opportunity of experiencing some of the flora and fauna of this unique habitat. In the summer, the sand dunes are transformed into a colourful carpet of wild flowers and are especially renowned for their rare orchids. Several of the holes by the sea offer spectacular views of a submerged forest, the remains of tree trunks which appear at low tide, from the days when the shingle ridge was further out to sea.
