The Opal Coast or "Côte d’Opale" offers 120 km of beaches, dunes and cliffs between Dunkerque and Baie de Somme in the North of France. The Opal Coast provides a landscape full of contrasts, mixing the bright green of its meadows with the blue-grey of the waves: a region that lives from the sea and plays with the wind. If you're planning to discover golf courses on the Opal Coast, you're in for a treat. There are 10 eighteen-hole and 3 nine-hole golf courses, all worth a visit.

Golf courses on the Opal Coast

As mentioned before there are 13 golf courses on the Opal Coast and we'll highlight 8 (2x Hardelot) of them. All of these courses can be played with the special Opal Coast Golf Pass, which you can read more about later in this article.

The Opal Coast offers golfers a wide range of quality courses, both along its coastline and inland. Most of the courses are located in the triangle of Wimereux, Lumbres and Le Touquet - Paris Plage.

Golf Bluegreen Dunkerque

The Bluegreen Dunkerque Grand Littoral golf course is located in Coudekerque Village, in the heart of a 350-hectare green area. Immerse yourself in a historical interlude by walking the 9 and 18 hole courses inspired by Vauban architecture.

Centuries ago, Vauban was commissioned by Louis XIV to build a citadel here to guard the Flemish borders of the French kingdom. The 27 holes of the Bluegreen Dunkerque Grand Littoral golf course follow the deep slopes and geometric mounds of the old fortifications, with raised greens, high vegetated walls and spectacular water obstacles: this is the great originality of the Dunkerque golf course.

A couple years ago Erik Anders Lang visited Golf Bluegreen Dunkerque for his Youtube series "Adventures in Golf". In this episode they play the course and try to pick the mind of the architect. It's really worth watching. You can view the episode here: Searching for the Architect | Adventures In Golf Season 4

Golf de Wimereux

Golf de Wimereux, originally laid out in 1901, is a links course located directly on the coast between Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer, close to the Channel.

The course of Golf de Wimereux was redesigned by Guy Campbell and Cecil Hutchinson after world war one, but the layout has been changed many times since then. In the past Golf de Wimereux club hosted several big championships and it can be very challenging when the wind from the North blows through the Channel. On a clear day you can see the chalk-cliffs across the sea in England from Golf de Wimereux club.

Golf d'Hardelot - Les Pins

The 18-hole Les Pins golf course at Les Golfs d’Hardelot is a stunning masterpiece designed by Tom Simpson. You’ll play on pine tree-lined fairways that weave their way through sand dunes and the Hardelot national forest. Its original 1934 layout has been meticulously restored to enhance its simple, subtle British style with its sophisticated green contours and notoriously tricky bunker edges.

Golf d'Hardelot - Les Dunes

Located just a few miles from the Les Pins course, the 18-hole Les Dunes course at Les Golfs d’Hardelot is laid out over undulating terrain. Set among ornamental lakes, sand dunes and forest, it is both strategic and charming with spectacular views. Designed by Paul Rollin and Jean-Claude Cornillot, Les Dunes has recently had a facelift, making it suitably challenging for a destination of this calibre.

Golf du Touquet

Le Touquet Golf Resort is an exceptional site located in the heart of the Opal Coast. Only 2 hours by car from Paris, its 3 golf courses will allow you to enjoy an enchanting golfing break accessible to all levels of play. One of its courses, La Mer, is one of the 100 best golf courses in continental Europe and makes it the first Links de France.

To make the most of your stay, you will have the opportunity to sleep in a charming Anglo-Norman hotel, the Manoir Hôtel, composed of 41 rooms and located opposite the golf course of Le Touquet. You will also have the joy of discovering exceptional dishes in the gastronomic restaurant.

Nampont St Martin Golf Club

The origins of the domaine of Nampont go back up to 858. In 1976, François-Xavier Podvin acquired the Domain of the Castle of Nampont. A golfer, fascinated by nature, he imagined and shaped a first course in the woods around the castle. The first 9 holes opened to players in 1978. In 1984, the Le Belvédère Course was completed with 9 supplementary holes.

Untiring in the construction of a monument to nature, and pursuing a dream, he designed every detail of the second course, drawn along the banks of Authie in the heart of a bird sanctuary. Opened in 1994, Les Cygnes Course, gem of the Golf, became an 18 holes course in 2002.

Golf de Belle Dune

Nestled in the heart of the most beautiful sandbank dunes of Europe, near the seafront, Golf de Belle Dune is a premium golf destination. Inspired by the traditional Irish and Scottish links, its greens seem to melt into the landscape. Here, the protection of the natural environment is a principle: an exemplary maintenance during the whole year ensures the respect of the ecosystem.

Designed by Jean Manuel Rossi, Golf de Belle Dune covers 30 hectares of unspoilt nature. An exceptional 18 holes to come challenge in any season.
