About Glenlo Abbey Golf Course

Our unique 9 Hole Double Green Golf Course offers a challenging test to all golfers. This lake side golf course, although fair to the beginner, can be a great test to the low handicapper. With the many lakes, trees, large greens, and the wind whipping up from Lough Corrib, it plays differently every day. But before your game, our 10 Bay Driving Range is the place to warm up. Bill Daly, on-site PGA Pro, offers the best in individual and group tuition. Bill will bring your group through the do's and dont's of the game, while adding fun to the occasion. Bill can also organise other things like, a Longest Drive Competition or Nearest the Pin.

Played this course a couple of times. The design and condition of the course is very good, but it has only nine holes and as such is overpriced, perhaps due to being attached to the 5* hotel and proximity to Galway city center. Par 3 island green hole is the best with another hole near/over the water, but otherwise lacking features. Offers beautiful views of the lake and hotel. Obviously,5* hotel bar is superb, where lunch and a pint is highly recommended. Very spacious driving range and putting green. Overall, the golf club is only lacking full 18 hole design to be an excellent course and deserving the green fees.

On advice of local players we went to the Glenlo Abbey 9 holes course. It is a nice challenging course with a hotel in the back ground were you can drink and eat if you want..

It is a 9 hole course with double greens what is very funny and indeed it looks more that you play 18 holes.

Hole 4 par 3 is a challenging par 3 on a island green. But also the other holes were interesting and not easy. There are lakes, trees and large greens. Further when you have a windy day from Lough Corrib it looks that the 1st and 2nd 9 are completed different,

Difficult but nice course to play sometimes you can not see the flag from the tee. Reception is nice and clubhouse is basic Maintenance was good and an interesting golf day.
