We played in the depths of winter, and the downland course was in excellent condition with full greens and tees. The greenkeepers have been on top form here. In places, you were served delightful views of the beautiful Cotwolds countryside. With some big-hitting neighbours like Lilly Brook, Minchinhampton and Cotswold Hill, Cirencester more than holds its own. 125 years of history have shaped an enjoyable albeit tricky course.

Course - Well draining with some reasonably significant elevation changes in places. Starting with a tough uphill par 4 to a green protected by no less than 3 bunkers, you are quickly made aware that you are in for a roller coaster of a course. No water hazards but plenty of bunkers.

Clubhouse - Nice large dining/bar area, with views of the 1st tee and 3rd green. Modern, clean changing rooms with clean showers & toilets.

Staff - friendly and knowledgeable.

Highlights - The shared valley fairway of the 4th and 18th is a unique feature of this course and one of the main lasting memories.

Lowlights - Extensive work was taking place on the 10th, which will hopefully compliment it once complete. Several other areas were also GUR.

The course is designed by James Braid and is situated about 2 miles outside of the ancient market town of Cirencester. The 18 holes are carefully tended by the green staff and set up to cater for all grades of golfer. The fairways and semi rough are generous and the rough is fair. The small greens and 51 bunkers defend the course well – miss the green on the wrong side and you’ll be left with a testing chip shot. The greens generally provide you with a good mix of undulations and subtle interest. Because of the free-draining limestone, the course can be kept open all year round and leaves the course in a great condition.
