Cotswold Hills Golf Club sits proudly among the rolling hills just south of Cheltenham, offering a fantastic mix of scenery, challenge, and charm. The course winds across the undulating Cotswold countryside, with tree-lined fairways and imaginative bunkering that give each hole real character. It was in excellent condition, too, with the greens running true and the fairways in excellent condition, making for a thoroughly enjoyable round. Recent work around the course, including new mounding on several holes, is already paying off, softening traffic noise and adding more shape to the layout. The course plays in two loops of nine, both starting and finishing near the clubhouse (always a bonus). Our host and I agree that the front nine is the stronger of the two. It begins with a friendly short par 4 and keeps up the interest with some really well-designed holes. The 8th stands out, a dogleg to the right, but you must get creative with your approach with a sloping fairway and bunkers lurking in the apex of the turn. The par 3 9th is another highlight, playing downhill to a well-bunkered, tiered green that rewards a good shot. The back nine has a slightly different feel. It’s less consistent but still has a few cracking holes. The 14th is a beast of an uphill par 4 that makes you work, and the 16th is a long, downhill par 5 that’s as scenic as challenging. Some middle stretch holes (holes 12 to 15) are still maturing, but ongoing improvements should help bring them up to scratch. Add to that a genuinely warm welcome, friendly members, and the stunning backdrop of the Cotswolds, and it’s easy to see why Cotswold Hills remains one of Gloucestershire’s top tracks.

Mooie golf met mooie glooiingen die zeer natuurlijk aanvoelen.

Uitstekende greens en algemeen goed onderhoud.

The first experience at hole 1 was a bit unwelcoming as some retired guys felt the urge to push forward on me. However, the guys behind me cleared that air by inviting me to play with them. Very welcoming chaps who guided me through the course. Maintenance of the course was perfect. Greens were fast and well cut, so were the fairways. Beautiful sceneries on some holes due to many differences in heights. Club is called Cotswold “Hills” for a reason... Clubhouse is a bit outdated, not that much of coziness.

This is a pleasant, fairly easy golf course but a delight to play and well worth a trip. The clubhouse is friendly but in need of updating (some work is under way) and the staff are very friendly. Course maintenance is to a good standard and the offline areas are playable but you will lose a shot, but not your ball!

The course is set within mixed woodland, high above the rolling hills of The Cotswolds. The 6,800 yard championship course is designed by club member and scratch golfer Morris Little and matured into a true test of golf. The quality of the course is given a lot of attention. Each hole features five tee positions to suit all golfers.
