Golf in Málaga

The reasons why many golfers flock to Málaga is because of its international airport Málaga Airport, officially known as Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. It's the fourth busiest airport in Spain and an important airport for Spanish tourism as it is the main international airport serving the Costa del Sol. Many golfers use Málaga as hub to get to the Costa del Sol, just south of Málaga. Málaga is the largest city on the Costa del Sol, it has a typical Mediterranean climate and is known as the birthplace of famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. Many tourists skip Málaga while heading for the Costa del Sol, but Málaga is packed with history. Make sure to visit the Alcazaba, a Moorish castle built in the 11th century on a hill in the middle of the city. This old fort is the best-preserved of its kind in Spain. While you are there , make sure to have a look at the Roman Theater which is situated just beneath the Alcazaba. Málaga is great for a golf break as it has a Mediterranean climate and because it is one of the sunniest cities in Europe with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. Málaga also has a relatively warm winter as the city is protected by the Malaga Mountains leading to average winter temperatures of around 13°C (55°F).
