Golf in Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands, situated in the Mediterranean Sea, consist of four larger islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera) and some smaller islands. Although Ibiza is well known for the party scene, there is plenty of room to get away from the young(er) crowds and enjoy the nature and the beautiful Balearic golf courses.

Golf in Balearic Islands
One could argue that Mallorca is the go-to Balearic Island for a golf holiday. In total there are 24 golf clubs on the Balearic Islands, of which 22 are located on Mallorca. These golf courses are known for their good quality, good service and beautiful views of the mediterranean terrain. The other golf courses are located on Ibiza and Menorca. Due to the Mediterranean climate the Balearic Islands are suitable for year round golf. The golf courses on the Balearic Islands are known for their rough mediterranean terrain. While playing the views will be baffling, including undulating fairways and high rocks. A popular golf course on the Balearic Islands is Golf Son Gual. This 18-hole course, designed by Thomas Himmel, is beautifully situated in the heart of Mallorca. Due to its scenic setting and undulating terrain, the course is rated as one of the best golf courses on the Balearic Islands. For golfers who are looking to get a bit more out of their golf holiday, there are plenty of opportunities. For example Pula Golf Resort. This resort, also located on Mallorca, has an 18-hole golf course designed by José María Olazábal. The course is known to be very demanding, but there are unique spa facilities to relax after the round. The one golf course on Ibiza is called Golf Ibiza. This 27-hole golf course is one of the two golf courses that can be found on an other Balearic Islands than Mallorca. This Balearic golf course was founded in 1992 and is located a 15 minute drive from the capital of the island. The two courses have some distinctive differences. Although Golf Ibiza is the only golf course on the island, it doesn’t necessarily make it a course for the younger generation. Ibiza has so much more to offer than just the party scene. The island has many beautiful, quiet little towns so it’s suitable for all golfers alike. For those who do visit the island for the party life, Golf Ibiza might just be the ideal “day after the night before” golf course! Golf Son Parc Menorca is till today the only golf course on Menorca. The golf course has 18 holes and is designed by Dave Thomas. The par-69 course features an interesting loop of 6 par-3 holes, 9 par-4 holes and 3 par-5 holes. Golf Son Parc is situated in the hills of the coastal village Son Parc. This picturesque town has a child friendly beach to relax after your round of golf. Don’t want to be on the golf course every day? Rent a mountain bike and explore the surroundings. So, grab those golf clubs (or rent them) and get on a plane to the Balearic Islands and their golf courses and enjoy!

Son Quint Golf (ArabellaGolf)
Warming up on the pretty driving range allowed the golf ball to roll down the hills into the centre of the 'fairway'- and whilst not indicative of the course, did make for a pleasing start. In fact first impressions when arriving at Son Quint were great, the first has a large stone walled area which makes it look like quality, sadly as you round the corner the harsh winte…

Zeer fraai onderhoude…

Son Vida Golf (ArabellaGolf)
During a period of rain and clouds, we were lucky to have a slightly sunny day playing this wonderful course. The training facilities at the entrance might not give it away, but this course is truly beautiful. We played with a member who told us the front 9 is easier than the back 9. I personally agreed, although some of my flight mates felt the opposite. The fairways a…

Club de Golf Son Servera
We played Son Servera on Saturday, the first of three 'Son' courses (Son Servera, Son Gual and Son Muntaner) we played on Mallorca. Really nice and warm welcome here. The club is a members club, but I did not really feel that. People were friendly and helpful. The clubhouse interior is quite modern with a good restaurant and nice terrace overlooking the putting green and …
