Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Dumfries and Galloway and was founded in 1880. The club moved to their present home at Summerhill in 1895 from nearby Kingholm.
Although Dumfries and Galloway has three National Scenic Areas and is blessed with outstanding natural beauty, it's not really a golf destination. In Dumfries and Galloway, you will find many old-style 9-hole golf courses, mainly dotted around the coast and the city of Dumfries. The best golf course in Dumfries and Galloway is Southerness Golf Club, located on the tranquil Solway coast. Other interesting golf clubs in Dumfries and Galloway are Powfoot Golf Club, Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club, Stranraer Golf Club and Kirkcudbright Golf Club.
