Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and the fourth-most populous city in the United Kingdom. Historically Glasgow was part of Lanarkshire, but the city now forms the Glasgow City council area. Glasgow is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands. Glasgow has a diverse architectural scene, one of the key factors leading visitors to the city. Glasgow can be divided into 4 areas: West End, East End, South Side and North Glasgow.

Haggs Castle Course

Played for the first time, the course is easy to read, which is pleasant. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition, bunkers were average. You hit your ball on the practice and then you pick them up…rather strange. Noisy surroundings with the motorway which is not far. But this very motorway puts this course at 15’ from the city center of Glasgow, which is quite r…

The scenery is delightful and the setting idyllic. This 9-hole golf course has the potential to be another 'hidden gem'. However, I think the hotel is being optimistic calling this mown field a golf course, and cheeky charging £15 for the pleasure of using it. The greens are barely distinguishable from the fairways. True, there are flags and tee boxes, and the tufts of un…

Play golf in Glasgow

There are quite some municipality courses in and around Glasgow. Most of them might be sold to the R&A. Glasgow Killermont Golf Club is the 10th oldest golf club in the world. When visiting Glasgow, the following golf courses should be paid a visit: the already mentioned Glasgow Killermont Golf Club, Pollok Golf Club and Haggs Castle Golf Club. We recommend staying in Glasgow when on a golf break to the area. Glasgow offers a variety of theatres including the King's Theatre, the Theatre Royal and the Citizens Theatre and is home to many museums and art galleries, the largest and most famous being the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). Most of the museums and galleries in Glasgow are publicly owned and free to enter. Glasgow has three international airports within 45 minutes of travel to the city centre. Two airports - Glasgow Airport and Glasgow Prestwick Airport - are dedicated to Glasgow. The third is Edinburgh International which, as it is situated on the west side of Edinburgh, is relatively close to Glasgow.
