Caribbean

The Caribbean region has always been a popular golf destination, but nowadays there are more choices than ever for golfers. Caribbean islands with the most golf courses are the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, the Bahamas and Bermuda. Playing golf in the Caribbean can be an expensive hobby and it's wise to stay in a golf resort. This will save some costs.

Tierra del Sol

A Robert Trent Jones design, and a lovely layout. Always playing into a lot wind. As the wind is always prevailing from the eat, the design has anticipated with the long holes with the wind and the shorter holes into the wind. A shame that the winds are mostly so strong you are playing the conditions instead of the course. One tip I would give, don’t visit the driving…

It is a pity. The management of the "club" do not like golf and golfers.

The Lakes - Barceló Bávaro

Played The Lakes at Barcelo Bavaro golf club while staying at Barcelo Bavaro resort. As a guest, the green fee is included (but you have a mandatory cart rental for usd 60 pp). Well maintained beautiful course, with a lot of bunkers and water in beautiful green surroundings. Some holes on islands too. Fun course!

Caribbean Golf Club

18 hole golf course, located about a 5 minute deive from the Catalonia Punta Cana resort in Bavaro. Some long holes to play under the burning Dominican sun. Hole 6 with green on an island, and hole 13, up a tall hill that provides gorgeous views over the course are quite special and beautiful.

Beautiful resort golf course. Palm trees all around. Wide fairways, challenging enough. Some holes seem to have undergone some changes/improvements, as the recent map on my new golf watch was outdated. Supervisor Juan, Ernesto, and Michael were the most friendly staff you could wish for. The course is next to Catalonia Punta Cana resort in Bavaro, and guests get proper ra…

Las Aromas Golf Course

Beautifully located and challenging course. Some greens had dry-patches when I played, but that did not temper the fun. Friendly folks and height differences make this interesting too.

Old Quarry Curacao golf course

Old Quarry Curacao golf course

Play golf in Caribbean

In total there are 248 golf clubs in the Caribbean, most of them of high quality, designed by famous golf course architects and located in some awesome locations. Golfing in the Caribbean is very relaxed, with great ocean views and good halfway houses where you can relax, drink something or even have a meal. Some Caribbean golf courses require the use of caddies and buggies are almost always included. The best Caribbean golf courses are Punta Espada Golf Club, Casa de Campo La Romana - Dye Fore, White Witch at Rose Hall Estate, Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort and Sandy Lane. Not surprisingly the Caribbean is home to quite a few of the best golf resorts. The Caribbean have a subtropical climate and normally temperatures are high with a lot of sunshine. But conditions per region can differ greatly. From July till the beginning of December it's hurricane season and during that period tropical depressions are common. This means heavy rainfall and windy conditions. If you want to golf in the northern part of the Caribbean (so Dominican Republic, Jamaica), go there from December to April. If you are planning to golf in the Leeward Antilles, then March to August is fine.
